DESCRIPTION
This 1956 MG MGA Roadster has just surfaced out of Dutch private collection.
In all my years of experience, I can confidently say that this MGA is one of the best-maintained examples I have ever encountered.
Finished in a lovely “orient red” exterior over black leather with red piping interior it is also one of the most attractive.
This early model is in my opinion the MGA in its purest most desirable form.
A proper English roadster predominately designed for the esteemed gentlemen racer. The MGA is far cry from its “TF” predecessor. Next to a much sleeker body, the MGA came with independent suspension & rack and pinion steering. Resulting in a roadster that exudes classic charm and unrivalled superior handling compared to most of its period peers.
Our MGA was body off restored once during its life which still shows. Both the technical and aesthetic aspects of the restoration were impeccably executed in those days. (picture file of both full technical as optical restoration is present).
After its restoration the car was driven regularly over the years & almost maniacally well kept at the same time.
From a technical perspective, there is no question about the extraordinary qualities of this car.
The bodywork and chassis remain free from any signs of corrosion, a testament to the meticulous preservation it has received. The 1500CC 4-cylinder engine springs to life with a single crank and runs with sheer power.
The car goes through its gears like butter. (Clutch was recently renewed).
The car's superb handling instils confidence in every corner, so no concerns on the suspension side.
The brake systems have also been recently refurbished, ensuring precise and effective stopping power.
In the looks department there is also nothing much left to want.
In terms of aesthetics, this MGA leaves no room for disappointment. While it proudly displays some "patina" acquired over its years of use, it is precisely this unique character that enhances its allure.
The “Orient red” paint is in good condition & the car has very nice chrome.
The chrome “knock off” wire wheels complete the good-looking exterior picture. Additionally, the car is equipped with a brand-new roof and perfectly functioning slit windows for those occasional rainy drives.
The interior is an agreeable place to spend your time. The black leather seats with red piping have been used but show no serious sings of ware & tare. There are no missing switches or broken dials, and everything is in full working order.
In short, a wonderful roadster ready for a serious classic rally or just a relaxed Sunday drive. Its exceptional condition, combined with its rich history and undeniable charm, make it an absolute delight for any enthusiast.
This MGA has Dutch paperwork which makes it easy to register in any Eu country.
